According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs, in April, China imported 0.1 million metric tons of caustic soda. Of this total, 0.1 million metric tons were solid caustic soda and 50 metric tons were liquid caustic soda. China exported 53.8 million metric tons of caustic soda. Of this total, 9.5 million metric tons were solid caustic soda and 44.4 million metric tons were liquid caustic soda.

From January to April 2026, cumulative domestic caustic soda imports totaled 0.4 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 39.3%. Of this, solid caustic soda imports amounted to 0.4 million tons, while liquid caustic soda imports totaled 150 tons. Domestic caustic soda exports totaled 1.604 million metric tons, a year-on-year increase of 19.3%. Of this total, cumulative exports of solid caustic soda were 315,000 metric tons, up 85.1% year-on-year, while exports of liquid caustic soda were 1.289 million metric tons, up 9.7% year-on-year.
